On Monday, March 28, the Harvard South Asia Institute will host an urbanization seminar entitled “India, the Urban Transition” by Henrik Valeur –architect-urbanist and Founder & creative Director of UiD. The event will be chaired by Rahul Mehrotra, a Professor of Urban Design and Planning at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Valeur will discuss some of the problems with urbanization in India and propose some possible solutions, using the cities of Bangalore in South India and Chandigarh in North India as its primary cases. The concept of smart cities will briefly be discussed and co-evolution and development urbanism will be introduced as alternative strategies.
