CGBC Postdoctoral Fellow Bin Cao’s recent article about personal control and thermal comfort was accepted and published in a new edition of Energy and Buildings, an international journal publishing articles with explicit links to energy use in buildings with an aim “to present new research results, and new proven practice aimed at reducing the energy needs of a building and improving indoor environment quality.” Cao, along with co-authors Maohui Luo, Wenjie Ji, Qin Ouyang, Borong Lin and Yingxin Zhu, investigated the influence of personal control over space conditioning systems on occupants’ thermal comfort perception, trying to identify the psychological effects of perceived control as well as the physical impacts when the controllable approaches are utilized.
