China Project Seminar: Decarbonizing China

Chen Xinyu, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard China Project for the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences will host a China Project Seminar titled “Decarbonizing China: Power System Strategies to Electrify Transportation and Building Heating with Renewable Sources.” Xinyu will discuss how China can effectively integrate the three largest components of the energy system—power, transportation, and space heating—to better integrate new sources of renewable energy and lower emissions in the country. Specifically, Xinyu will focus on the effects of electric vehicles, while attempting to reconcile the conflict between intermittent wind power and inflexible combined heat and power plants through introduction of more flexible heating technologies.
